  1. Why not get something better....As long as you have either a fast dial-up or internet. You can hook up a Digital Video phone in the Philippines..and one here in the U.S.

Here are a few comments and tips.

      1. This company I will refer you to, is not in the Philippines yet. But soon, for the billing part. As long as you can send your billing here to the states. You will have no problem and you'll like this device.

      2. Most important, these Dig Phones are FREE. Check out my web site....    www.jcbmw.acnrep.com  and click on Digital Phones.  Check it out....the browsing is also free.   Good luck.

  2. A PBX or IP-PBX would be overkill.

All you really need is a VoIP ATA box that has both FXS (outgoing VoIP line) and FXO (incoming PSTN line).

The Linksys SPA-3102-NA (unlocked) is a SIP-based ATA that has the features you want:

    http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite...

The bonus here is that the Linksys SPA-3102-NA is not locked to any specific VoIP provider.  What this means is that you can subscribe to Any SIP-based VoIP service that encourages BYOD (bring your own device) and Pay-As-You-Go (no contracts).

I use my user configurable (unlocked) Linksys PAP2T-NA with BYOD VoIP services like CallCentric and InPhonex.  They are only pay-as-you-go and.... no contracts.
