How can i connect to internet with my APPLE MAC using dlink wireless router???

my mac wont take the installation cd that came with router. but it does pick up the signal and dlink is clicked under that little symbol at the top right of the desktop. but it wont browse the internet???? anyone can help that would be great thanks. by the way its all connected properly to the cable modem but there is a red symbol on the right. heeeeeeeeeelp

You don't need to use the installation CD for the Mac with any router. The Mac is smart enough that it doesn't need that CD.

Do this on your Mac:

1)Go to the bottom of your screen to System Preferences and click on that icon.

2)Look under Internet & Network and click on the Network icon.

3)Select your Ethernet connection which might be 1 or 2, or just Ethernet.

4)Under Configure select "Using DHCP"

5)For Router field put in your router's IP address which may be like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 (see you dlink manual for that)

6)Put the same IP address you did for the Router for DNS.

Click to Apply it, and reboot your computer (just to make sure)

Then try it and see if you can get out to the internet not. Usually if you can't it is because the Router and DNS fields are left blank or have the wrong information on it.

You should be able to change setting for the router using the web browser by going to http://192.168.1.1 or another IP address (see your manual) to change whatever settings are needed for your router to work. Usually the router (such as the Dlink) will only need DHCP selected and a password for wireless access.

i had the same problem i think its because mac doesnt have install wizard but anyway if you have another computer install it on that using the same internet type thats what i did and it works fine on my mac now or i think there is this software you can buy but i would just do the same thing i did just make sure if you have say qwest internet when you install it on the pc u use qwest internet and also if you dont have a pc borrow one from one of your friends it only takes like 20 minutes to set up
