  1. Well, aside from making sure the grooves in your irons are nice and clean, you must have a steeper approach and consistently strike the ball in the proper place of the club face.

Furthermore, it is helpful to keep your wrists c*oc*ked...or keep the hands before the clubhead, as long as possible before releasing and turning your wrists over.

  2. Both of the above answers are good.  There are several ways to teach it, but good contact with a full steady swing is the best approach.  I will tell you that the greens your hitting at may effect it as well.  The reasons the pros do it so well is that the greens are firm and low cut so the ball can grip good.

Another point....Do you really need to spin the ball?  I read Harvey Pinicks book :Little read Book"  He said this about spin....If you have to ask how, then you most likely don't even need to try it, it will only produce a bad shot."  He then furhter explained....Do you hit the ball past the stick every time.....if not why do you need to spin it?  Just take DEAD AIM and put the ball up there.   Anyway.....

I couldn't spin the ball for anything until i started playing a softer cover ball  (I was also getting more game in that time.)  Even now I will try and cannot do it very often.  I can make it jump up and stop dead in its tracks but not usually come backwards like the pros.  I have noticed when I got my New Titelst Vokey spin milled that the ball does spin backwards more often, its a great club and easy to keep the grooves clean.  I was playing a ping 56 prior and it was good to, but the Vokey works the ball much more.

  3. dude get the titleist vokey spin milled wedges!! they are insane for spin!

  4. Typically you put the ball toward the back of your stance and hit down on the back of it to create the spin.  Use a ball with a high spin rate(Nike One Platinum or Black, Pro V1x, etc).  You want to control the amount of spin you put on the ball.  I spin it enough to make the ball stop and occasionally I will make the ball spin backwards.  Too much spin can make you spin the ball off the green.
