How can i continue after i beat the elite four in Pokemon Fire Red?

Question

after i beat the elite four in pokemon fire red,the credits appear...and after they are gone....it takes me to the starting screen with charizard and says press start button.The usual screen where i could have opted for either continue or new game does not appear.Luckily i saved the game after i won the Pokemon League so i can go back again but the same thing happens every time and i dont know how to get to that continue menu.Can anyone help me please?im playing pokemon fire red on VisualBoyAdvance version 1.7.2. emulator.thank you in advance

Hey i had i same problem when i beat the elite four  he showed me that save file is corrupted or something like 1m is not installed.. and he starts a new game. And now when i get 3badge it erases again.
