  1. collect and recycle cans donate the money to american forests that plants trees for a dollar tree.

be eco friendly- such as switch the light bulbs in your room to the new energy bulbs. turn off the lights in your room and unplug the TV when you leave.

set up a recycling system for your family. instead of throwing your half eaten food out , think about putting it in the fridge for a snack or lunch tomorrow, saving your family money and saving energy.

  2. LEARN.

Learn about the issues.  Be smarter than the average person.  So when you make big life choices like buying a car or where to live or how to eat, you can make smart choices that REALLY help the environment.

Instead of being stuck in a lifestyle that's bad for the environment and there's not much you can do :( like most people :(  Don't go with the herd, think for yourself.

  3. You could certainly do some of the obvious things, make sure you recycle your glass, cans, and plastics (that your town will take) as well as card-board, and/or paper (again, if your town will take it.)

Also, you could have fun showing your friends simple things that prove it can be easy to be "greener."

For example, I just showed my 6 & 4 year old (granted, much younger than you, but stay with me a minute) if you take a water hose, and arrange it into a spiral in the sunlight, the water in the hose can get very hot (112 degrees fahrenheight(sp?) in our case.)  Free hot water.

What's this show, well, that maybe when you guys are old enough to start worrying about where hot water comes from, you won't want to look at gas or electric first, but possibly as a backup. :)

  4. Everyone needs to do there part, no matter what age we are.  Recycling is the easiest part, but you could volunteer during clean-up efforts or community tree planting.

  5. great join a scouting or guiding group they do great things for the environment

  6. Hunt up a book called "You Can Save the Planet" by Jacqui Wines. Your library should have it, it only came out last year. It's got lots of ideas.

  7. There are so many things to do, it can feel overwhelming sometimes... but you're not alone!

At your school and public library, take a look at the books with call number 363.7 - like "50 Simple Things You Can Do to Save the Earth" (http://www.50simplethings.com).

Consider joining a local or national environmental organization, subscribing to their email list or magazine, or regularly reading their website, to stay aware of current issues, jobs and volunteer opportunities - (http://www.epa.gov/highschool/careers.ht...

Talk to some local environmentalists for advice - try looking in a paper phone directory under "environment," "conservation," and "nature" and give an organization a call during regular business hours.

Look at free newspapers or newsletters at your public library - there's usually at least one focused on environmental issues.  Also, you might find posters at the library, at coffeeshops, in stores, or near colleges, for upcoming environmental events.

    Good luck!

  8. I have just started learning about our enviroment in the last 2 years or so...and its a lot but i think its worth it...if i were you, the best way to help the enviroment is by learning as much as you can and then telling your friends about it...for example, if you could just start recycling and learning the benefits from recycling and then by having your parents doing it and then some of your friends...it just starts a huge domino effect and the more people who do recycle the less that will just be sitting in landfils! you can make a difference no matter what your age! good luck!

  9. Help bring into awareness that a non proliferation treaty for fossil fuel powered cars helps it. Treaty between nation similar to those made during The Cold War on nukes.
