Firstly you have to open the rar file using WinRar. Once done, you need to convert it using WinAvi or if you intend putting it onto dvd, I would suggest using "converxtodvd" this will convert & burn.

A hopefully more comprehensive answer:

A .RAR file is an archive. It can contain any possible type of file(s) in it. Therefore you will need to open your RAR file with something (WinRAR was suggested, and it's good enough) and see what's inside.

Once you see what's inside, only then should you make judgements. Perhaps an AVI or MPG file is already in it, and you will only need to "Extract" it from the archive and play it! If there are any other file types in it, ask a question related to that particular file type.

PS: There is no such thing as a RAR to AVI converter.

google search rar to avi converter..... they're usually free, after downloading, run the program or execute the file to install and then it's  set

you just need a program like winrar, or the like. it is fairly easy. you just extract the .rar file to a location of your choosing, and the program automatically converts it and puts it there. easy peasy lemon squeezy!
