How can i convert image files and other data into audio data language

im trying to make my own personal network between my computers using cell phones and the sound card.

im not a computer genius but simplified would translate files into (very simplified) 0's and 1's lets say 500 Hz for a 0 and 1000 Hz for a 1. Along with other specific tones for headers and footers. The recieving computer then uses this audio input from the cell phone to translate it back into the proper format

obviously the cell phones plugged into the computers would need audio in and out jacks.

im trying to circumvent the high charges per mb and monthly cap on bandwidth for cell phone data usage.

  1. Save yourself a lot of troubles and install Skype and a couple of (USB)Skype phones.

  2. Well, if the two computers are in the same room or the same house, just use a wired or wireless hub to transfer between the two. Much simpler.

If the two pcs are in different buildings, there's a lot of different ways to connect the two that are a lot simpler than using your phones.

If you are doing this for some kind of experiment, well, you are probably going to need an old fashion modem or something that will actually listen to the sounds coming off of your phones. Those should already be able to convert the data into the sound, but I think it will be tough finding that kind of thing. You may need to hack a pair of 56k modems so they can get their audio from your phones instead of your land phone line.

You could also try experimenting with systems like SSTV, which convert video and images to audio.
