I own a Yamaha RX 100 and would like to convert it to and off-roading motorbike. I may also be entering it in local rallys and all. Would like any advice that would help me modify the bike into a good off-roader.

  1. Sell it and use the money to buy a real dirt bike. Frame, suspension and gearing is all wrong. You'd end up putting more money into it than it's worth and be disappointed with the results.

  2. Do not spend any money attempting to convert this motorcycle into an off-roading machine.  Everything about the bike is setup for on road.  You would invest a pile of money and have poor results.  Save your money for a real off road machine.

  3. you have two choices :

    - Sell your bike and buy a new one.  a 150 cc will be a good choice

    - modify your old bike. first re set the frame, the RX 100 frame is good enough, so just strengthen the backbone. Cut the tail bone to fit the body. next, change the suspension. this is the most vital condition for the bike after the frame. you can use the Yamaha YZ 80 front and rear suspension for the exchange because it fits on much Yamaha modified small sport bike ( one of my friend did it on a  Yamaha RX-K  135) . Then, change the body. if you want compact size, the Yamaha YZ 80 plastic body is good. but if you want bigger looks, you can use the YZ 125 or the YZF 250 plastic body. the final thing is tune the engine. on my bike, i use 155 cc displacement and YZ 80 Ignition system.

my friend can compete the grasstrack competition on Free for All Class with these set - ups

if you want to modify completely, you can consult  trail motorcycle specialist on near your home to ask
