how can i convert one port of my tv for the speaker attachment into a multi port to attach it to a 5.1 speaker system..please help....

You should be able to split the 3.5mm socket from the TV to a red/white phono cable. This will allow you to plug the phono cable into the receiver which distributes the sound to the 5.1 speaker system, assuming that you are using a 5.1 amplifier, it should be able to upscale the 2 channel output from your TV to a 6 channel output for your speakers.
