To let me get a rabbit.I've wanted one for years, but we havent been able to get one becuase my dog is a basset hound and he loves chasing them. I would make room in my bedroom and take care of it. I know they smell but i'd take care of him and i'd be respoinsible. So how can i convince my mom to let me get one? Thanks in advance. :)

  1. I'd be careful. When my dad was little, he had a bassethound and his sister had a rabbit. One day my dad's sister came how from school to see it ripped to shreds- parts in the bassethounds mouth. Really, I don't think getting one is a good idea. Instead, volunteer with rabits at shelters or pet sit friends. If you add details/email on where you live I can find somewhere for you to volunteer.

  2. Show her you're responsible and capable of taking care of a pet on your own. Maybe you can practice on the dog. Don't let her help you take care of him for a week or so, and if he's still alive, then you're probably good.

Rabbits p**p a lot. Keeping them in your room may not be the greatest idea.

  3. i have the same problem about getting a ferret. so, mabe you can make up ways to go to a petstore and then pretend to fall absolutly in love with it

  4. if you have a dog it'll be alot of work. make sure your dog goes nowhere near it. also, from my expirience my rabbit would sit in the corner of the cage, and when he peed, it would go out into the carpet. i guess it was because it was a boy, but we got him young and the people said it was too early to determine gender. the cage smells horrible, it says to clean it once a week but we did 2-3 times a week because it smells so bad. thats why i didn't keep him in my room. i told my parents ill be responsible but they ended up helping anyway. theyre really great if you get a good one, but sometimes theyll drive you insane cause its really alot of work.

  5. If you are a responsible kid, then it shouldn't be really really hard. Just explain to her what you said in your question. You will make room in your bedroom, and always take care of him, you will make sure that it stays away from your dog etc. So just tell her that. If that doesn't work, then say that you will do more chores, like doing laundry, dishes etc. If you are irresponsible though, then you probably don't have too good of a chance though, so think about that. If you don't do a lot around the house anyway though, you can't expect her to trust you to do something else. I hope you get it though!!! Good Luck : )

  6. rabbits are not good pets for children.  your parents will need to be ultimately responsible for the welfare of the animal, vet care, and other costs associated with the rabbit.  smell is not an issue if the bunny is spayed/neutered.

check out rabbit.org for great articles about rabbit care and what bunnies are REALLY like...

  7. Well for starters, how about trying the following:

#1 Cleaning your room and making sure that it STAYS clean and tidy.

#2 Making sure that your homework is done and handed in on time.

#3 Sweep the floors in the living room and kitchen without your parents asking you to.

#4 Wash and/or dry the dishes.

#5 Do not fight and argue with your sisters & brothers.

#6 Eat what you are given and don't whine or make "yuck" faces when given it.

#7 Don't talk rudly to adults

#8 Always share with other kids.

#9 Go to bed when you are told to.

#10 Research the pet and breed you want to be 100% certain that it is the right one for you.

    # 11 Ask them about getting this new pet in a nice way and don't beg and whine about it.

I'm 100% sure that if you give those a try, they will see that you are serious about wanting to add a this pet to your life and family. :)
