How can i convince my mom to let me get a cat??

i have always loved cats they are cute,fragile,and always there for u. BUT my parents HATE cats. they think the cat will scratch the carpet and couches and beds and tables, and that the cat will jump off of things and break stuff AND they find it gross that cats clean themselves by l*****g themselves and they think they will p**p on the floor, and they are dirty little rascals laying on dirty ground all day long and my parents dont want the cat to get on the bed and bring all the dirt there. i have to admit all of this true but IDC i really want a cat. and they have their litter boxes!and my parents are worried that i wont take care of the cat and i WOULD i will ALWAYS take care of it and its not that hard. how can i convince them?

You have to PROVE you are a responsible person.

Do you clean your room without being asked.

Take out the trash when told to do so/ dishes/ etc.

It is easy to say "i will ALWAYS take care of it"  but in reality many young people say that and then the parent ends up taking on full care of it and other pets.

If you're parents think you are not ready for a cat then unfortunately if you're still living at home you have to abide by their decision, getting an animal is a lifelong responsibility and comes with potentially expensive vet bills if the animal gets sick as well as routine vet bills.  As for the clawing, if the time comes and they say you can have one, go to the shelter and get an older de-clawed cat, cat's are very intelligent and learn how to use a littler box very quickly.   Your parents pretty much sound like their mind is made up though.

ok first cats are not dirty!!! they do clean themselves with there tounges but still they are not dirty  what i would do (and what i did do) was find somebody with kittens perhaps search for them on craigslist usually it's about 15 dollars or free make sure they are liter box trained before you get him tell your parents you could save up and get him declawed. every body says it is soooo evil to do it to them but in reality it's not that badespecially if you have other pets in the house cats are really not very hard to take care of you feed them in the morning and in the evening and give them water cats are great pets and are insanly awesome hope you manage to get him
