  1. well if ur under 18 u should really wait.  if ur older than 18 go for it and ur mom will have to get over it.  it is your body and while ur mom may not like it she doesn't have to look and must respect your decision and while it is possible to catch some blood born pathogens through tattoos if u go to a properly trained professional u wont run that risk.  and there is no proven case of aids ever being transmitted through tattoos.

  2. First of all, do not listen to kellbell. You CAN get HIV or other infections if the equipment is not cleaned properly. The needles they are using penetrate your skin in order to tattoo you. Almost always, there will be some bleeding and that blood will get on the equipment. If it is not cleaned properly, which is sadly the case in a lot of places, then whatever diseases the person before you had, can be transferred to you. However, if you go it a licensed professional who is board certified and all that jazz, the chances of catching something are very very small.

Now, concerning your mother, if you are under 18 and need her permission then I would respect her wishes and not get it until you are legally able to do so on your own. If you are over 18, then legally she cannot stop you, however, she is your mother and her concerns should be concidered. She is worried that you will regret it later, so wait a little bit and really think about the tatoo you are getting. You might change your mind, and if that's the case then you will be glad you did not get the tattoo. Afterall, tatoos are expensive, and why spend that much money to put something on your body that you do not love? I know I changed my mind a few times before I finally decided to get one I would love.

The placement is another issue because, even though you might like to think otherwise, tattoos can effect the way people veiw you, and can hinder your chances of getting a job. I would suggest that anyone who gets a tatoo gets it in a place that only the people you want to see it, will see it, not where anyone walking down the street will notice it.

And lastly, (this answer has become rediculously long and I appoligize for that) I would strongly advise that you do NOT get a tattoo because a celebrity has it. Design your own or choose something that is special to you. Celebrities fade out, and their fashions go out of style. Getting something just because someone famous has one, or because your idol likes it, is a sure path to regret later on.

  3. How old are you? if you are 18 she can't stop you, if you are under 18, you definately will need to convince her, though from personal experience i know that if you try to hard it becomes a definate no. so lets begin...

    1. Your mother is (in theory) wrong, you cannot get HIV from a tattoo. Tattooist are supposed to throw away used needles and use new clean/sterile ones, in fact you can request a clean needle if you don't see them pull it out of the bag. (if they say no leave they are a bad shop, and this is why in theory your mom is wrong, if the shop practices bad hygeine like that and re-uses needles then yes you could)

    2. You'll REGRET IT!!.... Your mom may or may not be right....a lot of people get tattoos and regret them, a lot more people get tattoos and love them. some people get tattoos and love them but regret who did them. Chances are more likely that you will regret it if it's something that is hard to hide. A tattoo on the wrist could affect you ability to get a job certain places, and while yes that is discrimination, it does happen. I would choose a place that's easy to hide....or you could wear long sleeves to work all the time...

    3. As for what to tell her to try to convince her....good luck, as a parent, and especially as a mother, she is gonna be over protective and against it, most are. I never convinced my mom to let me get a tattoo, I just waited it out until I was 18, even then I never showed her the tattoo, she just eventually found out. at that ponit she didnt' care, there was nothing she could do about it i was 18.

Back to number 1..... Make sure if you get one you choose a reputable shop that is clean and practices good housekeeping. if you walk into a place and it smells bad or looks dirty, walk back out.

Ask around, find people with tats that look god and ask where they got it done, you dont want to use a crapy tattooist.

  4. if you put A LOT of thought into this tattoo chances are you won't regret it. if you go to a licensed professional you won't get an std. if you're 18+ it's not her choice; it's yours. however i would not get a tattoo someplace visible like that because it may limit you in the future (career) and if you do decide you don't like it, atleast you can hide it with clothing. take your mom into a respectable tattoo shop and have her talk to one of the artists. good luck :)

  5. first of all you cant catch HIV from a tattoo needle. they are sterile and are never reused. that's why they are taken out of the pack right before your eyes and thrown away. secondly it's your body. your parents are gonna eventually have to accept you for how you are. but i do recommend that you understand the consequences of getting one on your lower part of your arms. make sure that your not affecting your work. I only say that because not every job is ok with that. Fortunately for me my job doesn't mind. I have two sleeves and wear short sleeved shirts.

  6. Tell your mom to do some research. Or better yet, you should do some.

There are very few cases of HIV from tattoos, if there are any at all.

I remember reading an article that explained how it was extremely rare to get it from tattoos.

The main thing you have to worry about is Hepatitis,

however, if the place is clean and doing things properly, you will not have to worry at all.

Just make sure you pick a good tattoo place.

Some tattoo places are so clean and hygienic, they are like doctor's offices!

Do some research about tattoos and see for yourself.

It's your body, it's your choice, once you're 18, you'll just be doing it anyways, so why not now?

That's how my mom and I feel about tattoos.

    I'm actually only 15, and I have 3 tattoos.

I got my first one when I was 14.

Tell your mom to do some research and talk to people with tattoos.

My mom talked to many people with tattoos before she finally said I could get one.

Once you get the information, you will realize that it's really quite safe

as long as you get it in a good, professional tattoo place,

NOT in someone's house, basement, back alley, etc.

  7. hiv your mom.

  8. For one, I'd remind her that it's your body and that as long as you don't do something silly (i.e. something huge in a highly visible area), you will live with the consequences later yourself.

The other thing I'd do is ask her to come with you to the tattoo place. Get a referral, so that your mom can see that people aren't being slaughtered there. Then, ask the tattoo artist to show you that he is using a brand new needle and that everything is sterile. (Frankly, if that wasn't the case, you should NEVER go to that tattooer in the first place).

    Good luck!

  9. You can't talk her in to it, and you sound pretty young (sorry if that is presumptuous) I would wait, think about what you want for a few more years (til you are legally old enough) and then get it, once you are legally an adult it is up to you what you put on your body.  If you use a clean, reputable shop then you have no fears about getting HIV.

  10. That tattoo is ugly anyway.

  11. If your under 18, your probably not ready to get one ... you just think you are. If you are 18, it's your decision, its not your moms. Also, you cant get HIV. If that statement was really true, I don't anyone would want a tattoo, and the tattoo artists have to use clean sterilized needles each time.
