  1. Miniature horses are a fantastic option for horse lovers with physical limitations (like myself!). They come in a wide range of conformation types from old fashioned Shetland types to the more modern ones that look almost like tiny Arabians. The price range on them also varies widely depending on where you live and what you want.

If you are interested in the breed I highly recommend visiting the forum at www.lilbeginnings.com (can also get there at http://www.miniaturehorsetalk.com/). There is a wide range of miniature horse lovers there who are more than willing to share their many years of knowledge with you.

As far as talking your mom into it... I would recommend just talking to her about it. Even miniature horses are a lot of work. They still need regular exercise, hoof trims every 6 to 8 weeks, daily feeding, annual vet care (and often emergency vet care just like any other horse). They are as big a responsibility as a full sized horse. If she really insists she does not want one at most I would try to find someone local who has them and get her out to meet them and see if they steal her heart. She might change her mind then. If not, at least she got a chance to meet some sweet little horses. Buying one for her anyway is not a good idea as like I said even though they are small they are still a lot of work to care for properly. But the idea is very thoughtful. Hopefully she will appreciate that.

*side note: Where I live I was able to purchase a pet quality but sound and well behaved AMHR registered mini for $300. I've seen them as cheap as $200 for a pair in the paper($100 each!). This was for horses with no training (I train mine to pull a cart) and the $200 minis were not papered. I also looked at mini horses that were selling for up to $4000. So the price range can vary a lot depending on quality, age, training, location, etc.

  2. Well i paid 500$ for my mini mare and her foal. They are registered but we never got the foals. They wont accept checks so ou would have to give them cash.

  3. haha i wanted a minature but no said mum, really it depends on how much your mum loves horses she may be saying no because she doesnt want you to wwaste your money or if she did ride it could bring back memories i dont know just some ideas maybe why. There confirmation is pretty good but they are sure to have more shorter choppy gaits than a horse but have great confirmation for such a small breed. Minatures range from prices depending on their bloodtype and training usually they range from your average paddock minature $200-$600 if they have showing history and good bloodlines usually about $1000 to even 3,500 i know rip off

anyways good luck!!! i dont know a lot about minatures but i tried my hardest to help. Hope you finhd it helpful =D
