How can i convince my parents ?

ok so i want texting really badly, i will pay for it and everything

but my mom won't let me because she says i'm "not social enough" my dad said if i talked to family at my cousins party i probably could, well i did, and i asked my mom if she could call the phone company, and she started yelling how i was being rude by not talking to people, which i did [i am 13 btw]

so my question is:

how can i show my parents that im not trying to hide from talking to people by just texting them ?

Tell them that texting is just another way to socialize. And sometimes, depending on the phone line, its cheaper.

I'm also 13 and well I really don't know what to say but just show your parents that you are social enough by telling your friends to call you and also talk on the phone for a while and maybe that will convince your parents that you are.

Personally, I think texting is a waste. Why text when you can just as easily call the person. I have texting blocked on my phone because I kept getting weird messages. I have never had a desire to text. I don't know what to do to make your parents let you get texting. You're 13 so how will you pay for it?

Text messages are not important. I'll answer anyway. If you make them think that you don't want it anymore, they might give you the priveledge. But those 'If you do this..." things never work out like the parent says. I don't use cell phones at all very much, and I have no problem. And I still know how to type without all these nonsense abbreviations that nobody understands. And I am 14.

i just don't get texting...isn't that why you have a portable...mobil....take it with you so that you can be contacted anytime PHONE?? why don't ppl just CALL and TALK to eachother?!? if i wanted to type to everyone, i would just stay home with my regular phone and type to them on the computer....i don't get it.

Texting is a waste of time. Talking on the phone is much faster and a lot easier. It would just be a waste to pay for texting, even if your responsible.

tell them that you can get texting so when you can't talk you can text them. sometimes i text my mom in school if i forgot something or when i made honor socitey. good luck :D and by the way you should go back and edit the answer you gave me.

Just be social and try to make more friends and maybe you will have more fun anyway and forget about texting. Maybe your parents are using that excuse as a cop out so they don't have to let you text?
