How can i convince my parents to get a guinea pig?

Yesterday when guinea pigs came up, my mom said no. And then she said that we had to have the dog, the cats, the fish, and the ducks. I wasn't even born when we got our first cat, i was one when we got the second, i was 4 or 5 when we got our dog, and i was 7 when we got our 3rd cat because the first one had to be put to sleep and our 3rd cat was just dropped off in front of the vet in a box. My parents got our fish because last year my brother got a fish from a friend's birthday party, so they got a real tank and some more fish. As for the ducks, well they were kinda my idea, but my whole family wanted them, i just had to work out the kinks. I really want a guinea pig, and i can pay for everything and i'm responsible enough to take care of it. What should i say to them?

If you will be responsible for everything for your guinea pig, you can show your mom that you are responsible for other things, not just your guinea pig. Like helping your mom with things that she didn't ask you to do. Like setting the table when it is lunch or dinner and breakfast. For me to convince my parents a hamster (a guinea pig won't make a diffference!) is to show them I will take care of them and read information about them. And show them my love of hamsters and other pets.

Responsibility is one thing you have to have if you want to have another pet.

tell them that you are going to take care of it and that guinea pigs are not a big problem and that they are not going to take that much space (they do need a big cage),and it has to be away from the dog,and the cats (i am not sure about the duck),also tell them that you are going to clean its cage and everything it needs,wish you luck

Hi, I was going through sort of the same problem because I really wanted a rabbit/guinea pig/hamster and my parents don't approve to many pets (we have 1 cat and I have my own fish). I begged for a long time (for about 3 months :P) and my mom finally agreed when I talked it over with her a couple of days ago. She said I can get a hamster... here's what I did:

Research a lot about guinea pigs, then whenever it comes up, you can say some facts you learned or amaze them from how much you know.

Prove to be really responsible by taking over the pet chores, maybe even taking a friend's pet while she goes on vacation.

Have a long talk with your parents, talk about anything they are against about getting another pet, if they make a point about something, then maybe you should listen to them and wait a while, but if there is nothing that you don't have an answer for, explain again, and again, and suck up by doing extra chores etc. If your parents really won't give in, then, give it a break, it is their house and they might get even more annoyed.

Also, if there is a shelter that has guinea pigs around your area, show your parents, it's sad that a lot of them get put down because there are no homes for them, maybe they will take pity on them and agree.

First of all, you need to adopt TWO guinea pigs, not just one. If your parents don't readily agree to adopting a pair of guinea pigs, don't push it. Guinea pigs are a lot of work and money. If they don't agree to it, they will most likely not take your guinea pigs to the vet if they are ill because they didn't want the guinea pigs in the first place. Just wait it out, please don't bring guinea pigs into your home without parents willing to help you out.
