How can i cool down my reptiles enclosures?

Question

they are too hot than they are supposed to be and i have tried misting it with cold water and it just gets humid and hot.

please help

Any reptile heating bulbs or heat mats must be plugged into a thermostat (made for this very thing) or a dimmer switch (found at any hardware store) to control temperatures.  Always measure the temps with a digital probe thermometer!  Stick on and dial thermometers can be more than 20F off!

Knowing the kind of reptile, basic tank set up, and roughly where you are in the world would help.

For example, if you live in a warm, dry place with a cage with open mesh somewhere, try evaporative cooling- wet cloth over the mesh of the cage and a fan or breeze blowing on it.

try and turn off heat mat of a day leave heat lamps on,and of a night turn heat lamps off and switch heat mat back on.

if you have a heat lamp just move the heat lamp further away from the cage(higher above the cage) if you have a heating pad under the cage then there is probably nothing you can do, but if you have a desert animal make only half of the cage hot/warm the other half should never be the same. temp. and that is withh all aquariums! hope i am of help

Since I don;t know what kind of heating you are using I'll just go general.

All heat sources should be plugged to a thermostat with a probe. They control the temp by shutting off the mat/lamp or lowering the current. If you do not have a thermostat, order one online (Some can be very expensive, search on Ebay for a good deal or Herpsupply websites. Big Apple Herp has a good selection.) If you cannot get a thermostat, do a visit to a hardware store and get a light dimmer while you save up for a Tstat. If you decide for the dimmer, make sure you get the right dimmer for the wattage of the heat source you are using!

Moving your lamp away from the cage (if you have one) or getting a smaller wattage might help too.
