ui have a 125 Gallon reef tank and i have three MH lamps installed in my canopy but they heat the water up too much. I don't want to buy different lights or invest in a chiller. What can i do??

  1. unfortunately your best bet would be to invest in a chiller. perhaps it's possible to raise the MH lights a little higher above the aquarium?  that way maybe some of the heat would disperse rather than to  all go into the aquarium.

  2. Evaporation cooling can be done cheaply, but you'll still likely need to put some distance between the water and the light.  A fan or two across the tank's surface will keep the heat constantly moving out of the tank as water evaporates.
