You'll need software, such as DVD Shrink to remove the copyrights from the DVD.

This will not, however, convert it into a mpeg, avi, etc.  It will create the files required to burn the movie back onto a recordable DVD, compressed or full quality (depending on if you use dual-layer DVDs)

If you just want a video file you can play on your computer, try HANDBRAKE:

if it is off a dvd disk its impossble without addvanced softwere/hardwere try DivX or other internet based to get movies
