  1. Awsome question, I have a website that deals with this.  I think if you click on the confidence tab there is a link to build a value syteme page.  It might be of interest, if not there are some good links there.

    good luck

  2. Write out a list of what you believe your values are. In an era of moral relativism, most people pick whatever happens to be popular rather than right. It's like the flavour of the month. A true value system is something you design throughout your youth and you stick with it. That's called integrity. You are staying true to yourself.

  3. One way to do this is to observe or consider the moral standards that you apply, consistently, to situations in which moral choices are to be made. For example if an occasion arises where honesty is required, will you choose to lie? If the opportunity presented itself, would you steal or not? Do you prefer to break the rules (laws) or abide by them? Do you cheat or prefer to be honest? Most people have religious or familial guides in place, that have been taught over time, that influence their beliefs about what is right and what is wrong.

What type of morals did you parents teach you or what ethics were you encouraged to abide by in your household? Even if you didn't receive this "training" in your upbringing, there are clearly defined cultural values that are in place that we all learn (from pre-school even) as a result of living in our society. Like...don't tattle, don't cheat, don't steal, don't lie, don't do harm to others etc...Do you abide by these? These are questions to answer and ways to begin to gain awareness of your character.

Basically, your value system, is summed up by your character and the choices that you make to enhance or detract from a positive and upstanding character. Nobody is perfect...but the way that you respond or behave consistently in situations is a pretty accurate reflexion of who you are as a person and will show you your principals of right and wrong.
