How can i differentiate timings of good afternoon and good evening?

Good afternoon is relatively 12 to five, good evening is normally six to nine.

Or that was my understanding of it.

Good afternoon runs until sunset or until the dinner hour (depending on where you live. In some parts of the country at this time of year, sunset is around 9:30)

Good evening begins after good afternoon ends, so after dinner or after sunset you use good evening.
