Question:

How can i disintegrate cement that is clogging a pvc pipe?can i use ammonium hydroxide?

im an electrician,i have a 240 foot run of pvc encased in concrete running vertically in a building.somehow a small amount of concrete got inside the pipe,and i dont want to abandon it,without trying somethings first,someone told me ammonium will work,but im afraid of damaging the pipe itself.help!!

  1. I think u should examine it by putting a small amount of cement in a PVC pipe and then try to remove it using ammonium hydroxide if the pipe doesn't damege so it work.

  2. PVC is immune to ammonium hydroxide. Unfortunately so is concrete. Will take forever to disolve it. Try commercial "Mule Kick". It uses sulfuric acid to chew on tough plugs. If that doesn't work, try to use Draino. The hot sodium hydroxide will weaken the concrete. If you alternate back and forth with lots of water rinses in between, the concrete will disolve.
