  1. Here's the lowdown on serving up a floater.  First of all you have to have some serious power behind your serves.  You need to already be able to control where it lands.  Once that's all established, then you need to concentrate on hitting the ball without SPIN.  You'll need the coach to spend some time watching you to let you know what needs adjusted.  A lot of people tend to put backspin on their serves.  A good coach will be able to watch you and work out adjustments accordingly.  You may need to adjust the angle of your wrist or the angle of your body when you make contact with the ball.  You may also need to work on the amount of turn your body makes as you serve.

  2. a "floater serve" is just another term for an over hand serve. but a "spin serve" is when you go to do an over hand serve instead of just hitting it you kind of snap your wrist so it kind of spins. (kind of like if your going to do a spike but don't force the ball down still make it over the net) it all takes lotzzzz of practice!!!  trust me i'm going into 7th grade and i had to practice like for a couple of months just to improve on my over hand serve, then i finally did it on the court and i've gotten it over.... almost every time!!! well ya so volleyball rox!!!!!

  3. Cup your hand and when you strike the ball stop at contact, do not follow through.  This will give the ball a knuckleing effect (like a knuckleball in baseball).  I am assuming this is what you mean by a floater.

  4. Don't put on any spin on the ball is the key of a floater serve. It is like no spin fast ball pitch in baseball. Apply your power focus on middle back of the ball (or slightly bottom back of the ball) with end of your palm when you serve. Try to serve long and not too high. With no spin on the ball, the ball flies irregularly and drop with its own gravity. It usually messes up receiving.

  5. Try facing the valve of the ball toward you. When you contact the ball hit the valve. You can also vary where you want  the ball to go by facing the valve to right, left , front and bottom. The valve of the ball is the key on what direction it will float. Your contact is the center of the ball with the heal of your hand.

  6. I have played volleyball before but I have never heard of a "floater serve"

  7. keep your hand firm and hit the ball on the palm or your hand...do not snap (that will cause top spin). Just make your middle finger and thumb firm and make direct contact in the middle of the ball. If you want it is swerve a little, after you hit it, take a little off

  8. huh?i didn't understand the question... :D

  9. place the ball on ur palm and raise the hand to a 45 degree inclination with the logo on the ball facing u.then raise the other hand and hit the ball on the logo straight.by practising that u can perfect the float serve.

  10. The key is in the amount of pressure you apply with the hand slap. Toss the ball up as normal. If you naturally jump serve, you can still do a floater serve. What changes is the position of your hitting arm (the degree to which it is ******) and the force with which you hit (slap) the ball. Restrict your follow through so that it's just a smack on the ball not followed by the force of your arm.

  11. you do a mormal overhand serve and when you are getting ready to strike the ball strike it how you would normally but DO NOT follow through and that should give the floating effect look for it a little bit before going over the net it will be waving side to side a little

  12. i don't really knw how..but my teammates say that i served one...i think you should hit the ball at the very center of your palm...i dnt really knw..hehe..sorry..=D

  13. hold the ball up in the air like you normally would b4 serving and then when u make contact hit your hand on the ball a little under on the ball than  what u normally would.

    hopefully that makes sence

  14. Here's How:

Stand facing the net with your feet staggered.  Your foot opposite of your hitting arm should be forward and pointed towards the opposite court.

Keeping your weight on your back foot, hold the ball with your non-hitting hand underneath and hitting hand on the top.

Extend your arms in front of you, parallel to the ground, move your hitting hand to your ear with your elbow high and toss the ball about two feet above your head and in front of your shoulder

While transferring your weight to your foward foot, contact the ball with an extended arm and in front of you

Hit the ball with a slap on the backside of the ball, do not snap your wrist and do not follow through

    Tips:

Hit the ball as if you were going to hit something very hot

Try to make the ball fly straight with very little trajectory

To get more power, use your abdominal muscles
