  1. Your track meet is tomorrow, so practice, practice, practice! U'll never improve unless you practice. I know it's sort of hot out, but if you runthrough the heat, then nytime u'll be able to runn in hot whether. If u want to get 1st on the 400 and not collapse, then go outside now and run 1 or 2 miles and work out your legs. Leg workout helps a lot in running!

  2. Eat Salad like 40 mins. before the race but no dressing and no meat in it like bacon and to make you wanna run longer you can take a caffeine pill like 30 mins before and it gives your blood the boost to keep on the adrenline but not enough to get you hyper....caffiene pills are only like $7-12 dollars not that bad

  3. my coach recently put me in the 400 too. I did worse than you with a 79.9!..... i got advice from other 400 runners that improved my time to a 63.0. You should definately go into witha winning attitude. If you go in mot wanting to do it you will do really bad. As soon as the gun goes off try your hardest to keep up with the pack and as soon as you hit the last 200 pick up your speed and the last 100give everything you got!! Push past everyone else because you are the one with the heart to win! The 400 takes up all your energy so make sure your ready to give it everything you have and have worked for

  4. go between 95 and 96% until u get to the last turn then for the last hundred go all out and get in the mental state that u just have to run once around the  track one and done

  5. okay... on your first 200m run fast, but don't sprint

    on the other 200m SPRINT!!!

make sure to keep your arms relaxed... and use them to help you.

don't drink anything before the race, so you don't get cramps and breath with your nose.

hope that helps in some way =]

  6. dont worry-a 72 isnt that bad! when i was in 7th grade i was running that at the beginning of last season.

you want to get a good start off the first curve. it's very important that you STRIDE the back stretch. if you go too hard, you won't have a kick when you get to the last 100 meters. as you hit the 200 mark, pick up your speed. when you hit the last 100 meters, GO! give it all that you've got. if you stride the back stretch, you should have a really good kick that should improve your time.

i cant stress enough how important it is to not go too hard on the back stretch. i lost in my biggest 400 dash of the season because i went too hard on the back stretch.

    good luck!! =)
