  1. Johnny and Fast Eddie are on the money here.  Bertbert makes an interesting point as well.  I'm a big supporter of the open bridge when I teach as well.  It's true that you can perform a great draw shot with an open bridge.  An open bridge actually allows you to get lower on the cue ball while maintaining a level cue.  A closed bridge is great, but if you look closely, a closed bridge raises the fulcrum and causes your cue tip to hit slightly more downward on the cue ball instead of more straight across.  It's very slight, though.  Watch snooker players sometime and see how well they can draw with an open bridge.

  2. one more thing... don't be discouraged at first your draw will blow. i would read in books and they would say hit it low, follow-thru blah, blah. well it's true that is how it is done. One thing no one can teach you is what a proper stroke or proper contact with the cue ball, only practice and experience can aid in that dept. Last point smooth and fast not necessarily hard don't be choppy remember like butter smooth.

  3. as you do it in snookers... hit it at the bottom most and that too with a jerk pulling the que towards yourself. but you have to practice it more in Pool than snookers as the que stick is not that narrow at the front end to execute that properly

  4. Johnny got it, Ajay not. Aim low (2 tips). You've got to go fully through the ball, at least 8 inches and not necessarily hard. Keep the cue level. You should be able to draw the cue ball at least 1/2 way across the table (5 ft) if you get it right you can even get beyond 9 feet.

  5. Hit low on cue ball with lots if follow through & level stick thats the most important keep your sitck level

  6. aim low on the cue ball about 6 'o clock then follow through but most importantly lower your bridge hand as low as possible. its better to use an open bridge hand for you can lower it as possibly as you can. i also had a hard time drawing the cue ball at first but when i did this it worked.

  7. Ajay what the-Oh never mind

Eddie ,Straight and the old man already have it

Good point on open bridge guys
