Hi. I'm 10 years old. I'll be 11 for the districts and states meet. I've only been to one meet this season, and still havn't made either. Here are my times. I'm in the 9-10 age group by the way........

50 yard butterfly- 40.0

50 yard Freestyle-34.7

50 yard breaststroke- 48(my worste stroke.)

50 yard backstroke- I forgot!

100 yard IM- 1.30 flat.

Also. are these good times for my age group? Remember that this was my first meet. Thanks!

  1. Well, like with most things you have to practice swimming and by practice I mean hard. Your swim team practices are what determine your overall physical condition and stamina.

So these next few weeks swim your hardest at your workouts. If you are not getting tired on a certain part of your workout, swim harder (unless it is a warm up or your coach is having you swim drills for helping your stroke technique.)

Just make sure that after each set, you really are tired and breathing hard. That is what the rest time is for that your coach gives to you.

Oh yeah, almost forgot. Your times look pretty decent for your age group, especially if you have only swam one meet. I've seen slower on my high school team.

    good luck = ).

  2. Dude you just gotta practice. Go to the pool or a lake or someplace you can swim three or four times a week. Practice often and hard. Work yourself hard half the time, conditioning your body and making your muscles ache. The other half, take it easy and focus on technique of your pull and kick. Do drills to focus on certain parts of each stroke. The other way to improve time is to lift weights and do other strength training on land. Technique makes you fast too, but if you have muscle it will take you a long way.

Your 50 free time is good, i'm 15 and have a 29:18. 50 breast is weak, but everyone has a weak stroke. 50 fly is also solid, but its great if you've only swam one meet.  As for 100 I.M, its okay but could use improvement. However, all times are perfectly fine for an 11 year old with one meet under his belt.

  3. Good, Not great. If u were at my pool though,  u would qaulify/ The fact u'll be eleven, makes u seem worse, eleven-tweleves is harder than 9-10s/

  4. those are all some pretty good times

to drop your time you need to breath less on all strokes

for breaststroke to improve you need to as soon as your are done taking a stroke shoot them back out so they are in front of you and glide a little longer

also try doing this drill      do regular breaststroke except do to kicks instead of one(it will improve your glide)

  5. Those times are great for a boy your age

The best way to drop your swimming times is concentrating on your technique and endurance. Controlling the anxiety is also a big improvement, but that is up to you! Just be patient and concentrate while your practising, ask your coach advice and enjoy!

  6. stay in good shape and keep practicing. good luck!!!
