lately ive been eating not so healthily, and im 15 and have always been quite petite, and i still am the same weight as i have been for a while, as i havent grown in height in some time. im also a vegitarian. i just feel that i eat too much junk food and not enough GOOD foods. im not saying i live off of chips and candy, but i eat a lot of french fries (not fast food necessarily, but made in the oven at home) because theyre like, my favorite food. and i eat ice cream almost every day. i also eat too much sodium in my opinion, and i dont know what that does to you, or how bad it is for you. but i do eat veggies and fruits, and soy and neccessary things for vegitarians.

im worried that either my wieghts going to catch up to me when im older (even though my mother and father are both pretty small), or im just not healthy in genneral right now.

so basically what im asking, how can i eat healthier and still be happy with what im eating?

  1. You must learn to eat differently dear and do it ASAP;

or else you might have a life long regret of your health + your statue.

If you must not eat meat; then how about fish (fish 'n chips)? how about nuts, cheese?

Fresh fruits + green vegetable + color fruits (bell peppers) should be consumed daily; +/- yogurt.

If you can boil a chicken with onion + celery + carrot + parsely for about 1 hour; drink the broth with meal +/- green leaves in it.

You should come back and every week you ask the same question with your progress. 15 is young enough to change, but not much later.

  2. drinking lots of water, including lots of fruits & vegetables in her diet, and cutting out trans fats, hydrogenated oils & excessive saturated fat, refined sugars (such as high fructose corn syrup) and *white* flour is the way to go.

Also I feared all fat & carbs when I was a teenager, and have since learned how wrong I was. Many fats are good like omegas and monounsaturated- such as avocados, beans, soy etc. even nuts in moderation. As far as carbs- whole grains such as whole wheat, whole oat, quinoa, millet etc. are necessary for fiber & digestion and are very healthy. Plant based sugars are much healthier than refined too.

  3. Good things in small amounts. The fries, as long as they are oven baked in Olive Oil, should be just fine to enjoy (be sure you only have one serving size though -- which would be 15 to 20 fries, I think). Same with ice cream -- keep it small, but make it as sweet and rich as you like.

Keep track of your foods in a diet diary (this isn't to lose weight, but just to record). Then you can keep track of the calories, the sodium, the cholesterol (if that's important to you) of what you are really eating.

You could also try substituting home-made sorbet for the ice cream, and make your oven fries with the skins on. Or switch to baked potatoes.

  4. You are what you eat. It shows on your face, skin, hair, height etc. You have to give your body what it needs to build.  Too much of something or not enough of something else will show.  Try more protein for building.  I'm a steak guy, I was 6 foot in 8th grade. I was as tall as the teachers in my Jr. high yearbook. Genetics is also a key factor. Check with your parents, ill bet they had similar experiences. If you want health food inexpensivly, go eat in the hospital cafeteria.

  5. well the only way your fat diet will catch up with you is if you continue it when you're in your late 20's

if you eat all that junk right now and you're still petite then go ahead and eat all you want...  because this is the last chance you get..

Go to mcdonalds.. order 3 of each of the dollar menu and pig out like crazy.. seriously.. If I do that I'm going to die right there on the spot I guarantee.. You won't.. go do it and be happy!!

  6. Yeah, it's simple. I'm 14 so here's what I do:

Breakfest: Veggie Sausage, eggs, or Waffles, Ceral, OJ

Lunch: Fruit (like watermelon, my fav), water.

Dinner: Carrots,Steamed Nuts (you need protien so  you need lots of nuts since your a vegi ppl, so around 20 to 30) Celery, Cranberry juice, Fries (not too much)

Desert (not every day): A liitle ice cream or fruit smoothie.
