How can i eliminate lilac bushes?

Cut off several branches, where you have made the fresh cut later it up with a non selective herbicide.  Then take the stump out.

Try to pull out the shrubs by the rootball.  You may actually have takers for the lilacs.  This requires some sweat but is the only way to get "rid" of the lilac properly.

Before you do this, though, you may want to ask around to see if there are people in your area who will remove the lilacs for you, for free, just to have the plants themselves.
