  1. I am also a high school drop out. You can take an equivalency exam and receive your GED. That's what I did. Nobody ever asked me at a job interview whether or not I graduated AT the high school. All they really care about is that I know CPR, have a first aid certificate and that my TB test came back clean. They want me to be kind to the patients (I didn't need to be told, I do that naturally) and show up on time, in uniform. I am not allowed to wear perfume at work, and I am expected to bath regularly. (duh)

My suggestion to you is that you start out by volunteering as a candy striper at a local hospital. You get to see the profession up close and personal, so you'll know if you really REALLY want to do that. You may also make valuable contacts which could be good when you need someone to vouch for you as a good human being.

In many states, there is a position known as Professional Homemaker, or in home caregiver. I had my GED when I started that position. I did not need any additional education, although you do if you want to be a Certified Nurses Assistant. (CNA)

Best wishes in your chosen profession.
