How can i fall asleep faster at night?

I can never fall asleep at night. Recently I have been going to bed at 7-8 am and getting up late in the day. I want to get back on a normal bedtime schedule, but no matter how hard i try i can't fall asleep at night. I have always been like this. School is starting soon and I want to be able to get to bed earlier so I'm not miserable in the morning. Any suggestions?

  1. gradualli make ur bed time earlier and earlier, this will help get u on teh rite sleepin pattern. and if u still cant get to sleep, one of the things i do usualli wood be jus to keep singin in ur head a random song. cos my mind tends to wonder a lot and i jus keep thinkin at nite and i cant get to sleep.. so jus think of a song.. hope it works !!

  3. force your self to get up earlier . then youll go to bed earlier. which will eventually solve yoour prob

  4. close your eyes think your at a mall having a shopping spree or what ever you want listen to music and relaxing stuff sorry that is all icould thingk of if have a good night sleep

  5. close your eyes- count sleep as your eyes are closed- or also listen to classical music like beethoven or mozart-

    works for me all the time!

  6. try something like Tylenol pm to make u fall asleep until u get back into your normal pattern

  7. I have had that problem aswell, have a shower or bath before you go to bed and if you are thinking alot before you try to get to sleep just bring a notepad to bed and write your thoughts down on that so when you wake up in the morning you can dwell on them then :)

  10. Ignore the sleeping pills people! Don't rely on unnecessary drugs.

    Try reading a boring book/watch a boring movie. That ALWAYS puts me to sleep.

    Or don't go to sleep until you are tried. You will have no trouble closing your eyes then. Sleep at a decent time, and make sure that you get 6-8 hours of sleep per night. Go to sleep at a time that will allow you do this. If not, don't sleep well one night, and then the next night you will be tired earlier. That's a way to get used to it for school. That outta do the trick.

  12. You can try focused relaxation. Start with the toes, feet, ankles, calves, knees, thighs, hips, lower back, abdomen, chest, shoulders, biceps, elbows, forearms, wrists, hands, fingers, neck, head.

    Concentrating on feeling each body part relax will not only relax you but will keep the thoughts of the day from racing through your head and preoccupying you.

    Also remember to breathe deeply and slowly as this will lower the oxygen content in your blood and help you relax.

    I, personally, daydream. I create fantasy worlds and situations and try to visualize them. That takes my mind off the thoughts of the day and creates a smooth transition into dream.

  14. i find the easiest way for me to get to bed on a school night is to just keep my eyes shut and do not open them at any cost.

    it also helps to have the fan on; this is so the air in your bedroom doesnt get too stuffy.

  15. DONT get sleeping pills...

    during the day try to get some exercise... or just play... something

    it really helps.. im trying that and so far its really helping  : )
