How can i find a : 8 to the power of a+1 = 512 i know the answer but i dont know how to leave a alone?

8^(a+1)=8^3

a+1=3

a=2

512 is the same as 8^3 because 8x8x8=512

therefore

8^a+1 = 8^3

we can now work with just the powers so

a+1 = 3

a = 3-1

a=2
