i was adopted when i was 2 days old and im going to be 21 in a few weeks. i couldnt ask for a better family i have had the greatest life. i know my birth mom was 19 when she had me, the father ran out on her when they found out she was pregnant so she gave me up for adoption so i could have a better life. i want to find her because i want to know what shes like and thank her for giving me such a good life. i also want to know if i have any brothers or sisters. my mom says theres no way i can do that because all the papers are locked away somewhere. there has to be a way. how do i go about doing this?

  1. Ask your family...im only 17 and im having alot of hard times going through being adopted..feel alot of pain

  2. will she even tell you the agency.maybe your adopted mother dont want you to find her, some people dont want you to find out the truth

  3. You find out who knows and then prevail upon the person who can help you.

  4. Depends on how you were adopted. if thru a state agency, ask for your non-identifying information and go from there. you can either find someone who does searches for a living or find a good site and use their tips. i found a lady who wanted to do these types of searches for a living. she charged me her expenses (less than $50) and i found my birthmom within a few weeks. really just depends on how you were adopted as to where to start. really need more details to be of more help. good luck.

  5. Each country and state has different laws and rules that apply to searching for birth families.  Can you provide more information so that we can provide specific information.

The first general rule is the register with isrr.net and with as many online registries that you can

    registry.adoption.com

    gsadoptionregistry.com

She may already be looking for you.  Also contact the agency and or state for your non-id and have a letter placed in the file stating that you wish to make contact should she ever try to update or obtain info about you.

A couple of states allow the adoptee to obtain a non-certified copy of your original birth certificate.

  6. Your mother is wrong.  Did she tell you that the building with the papers burned down, too?

There are lots of adoptees who would love to help you!  Congrats on your courage!

  7. You can find her ! My daughter found me. I signed up on a site adoption.com and she went there and matched up the birth dates and the state and called me. We have not met in person but have talked on the phone and thru emails. GOOD LUCK !
