How can i find my granda father in the isle of man censuses prior to 1901?

he appears in 1901 in pthe parish of geran peel isle of man as afarmer married to christiann both 38 born in german i.o.m with a family of four two sons and two daughters and two nieces and a lodger and a servant but icannot find the marraige or birth s oir any trace of them in 1891. 1881 or 1871 censuses they cannot just not be recorded somewhere. anyone any ideas
