How can i find my laptops serial number after it got stolen?

my laptop got stolen, how can i find its serial number, i need to report it to toshiba´s Stolen Unit Database? i know the machine type and model number(i think) but i forgot to write down the serial number...i have the reciept of the stolen laptop...and i got it from plug-inns can they get me the serial number of the laptop i purchased, if not what are any other way i can find the serial number? and does every laptop that has the same machine type and same model have the same model number? (ex. toshiba A200 S29) and is the "S29" in the parantheses a model number?if it is not then what is it? plz try to answer all the questions if u can!!!

Unless you noted it down you are screwed as lots of stores do not open the boxes to note down these numbers. You could ask where you bought it from but .............................
