It is very easy, just follow these steps.

1. go to the command prompt(if running xp it should be in accessories, if it is vista just search it

2. When it opens all you do is type "ipconfig"(without quotes)

3. You look for Ip adress or Ipv4 adress

4. the numbers on the right is your ip adress.

5. Make sure it you are not looking at default gateway, it is the one 1 or 2 lines on top of that one.

If you are on a local network, like a wireless or shared netowrk.  Open a command prompt by going to run in xp and typing "cmd" or just search in vista for "cmd"  When the command prompt comes up type "ipconfig" and hit enter.  This will tell you your ip address of your computer.
