How can i find out how slugs are getting into my house?

kept finding slug trails on my laminate floor around my dining table and have just come downstairs at silly o' clock (to let cat in) and have just evicted 21 green tiger type slugs from under and around the floor. really gross! Thought there may have been a couple but 21 is ridiculous. Looks like they're coming from under the skirting boards.

I have small kids and cats so can't put slug pellets down. I did sieve flour all over the floor a few weeks ago to find where they were coming from but they just went over the top, on the skirting boards.

Any advice welcome.

try putting salt right next to the skirting boards.  Salt kills them.

Put a plate of sweet food outside for them. It will distract them.

well i don't know for sure but just try looking where its coming from or where they just slid from also make sure theres no food anywhere or anything to make them wanna come and of course theres the option of killing them and throwing them out and if they still come hire some enterminater for them also i found this website im not sure if its much help but here

slugs eat cat food, try feeding your cats at certain times of day and only enough for them to eat and be done.  Leaving cat food out will only attract them.

As an immediate action plan, get one of those bug spray guns and fill it full of salt saturated water. Spray the effected area and skirting boards. It will leave behind crystallised salt when it drys.

Slugs can't go without moisture so you have a damp source under the skirting boards that must lead to outside. They have to be eating something and all there should be underneath is wood, so there must be mold growing on the wood.

It looks like you need to lift the floorboards and investigate the source. At a guess your damp course needs replacing.

You can use the pellets if you put them in a box with holes too small for the cats to get into and put them down at night when the kids are in bed. Look for places where the skirting is pulled a bit away from the wall (it doesn't have to be big - slugs can squeeze through), and look in the cabinets for openings around pipes and loose cabinet doors with gaps. They have to be coming from under the house or outside, and have to have a conduit into the house. Don't forget any heat or air conditioning registers.
