How can i find out how to get slovenian citizenship?

I am currently living in the U.S and was born here, i've been to slovenia and would very much like to move there, but i dont know where to find their policy on immigration from the U.S, ive looked all over online and couldn't find anything!

  1. Right, this is obviously a very complex procedure but I've looked up some quick facts for you-

    Since you're not a citizen of the EU, you'll need a work permit to get a job.

    To get a temporary work permit you first need to have a temporary residence permit (which lasts about 5 years).

    For a permanent work permit you need a permanent residency permit, which you can get after living in Slovenia continuously for 5 years.

    To apply for citizenship you need to have lived in Slovenia for a period of at least 10 years, of which 5 years must have been continously up to the point of your application for citizenship.

    If you become a citizen you obviously won't need a work/residence permit anymore and will automatically become a citizen of the Union, at which point you'll be free to live and work anywhere within the EU happily ever after until the end of time.
