  1. if i were you i would register at many popular websites so you would be easy to be found...thats if you are looking to be found. almost everyone has a myspace so thats my first suggestion.

  2. Assuming that you do want them to find you, just let them find you. How?

Have a profile in a social networking site (facebook, myspspace)

    Join in discussion groups

    Register in mailing lists

Create your own website and let search engines index it. (for example http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html...

  3. You can't.

Some subscription sites devoted to high school classes have advertisements, "Find out who's looking for you!"

What they mean is you sign up as Joe Smith, Warren G. Harding High School, class of 1988, pay the $19 or $29 and fill out a profile of what you've done since 1988. Then other people who have also subscribed can look at your profile on the site. If the other people leave a message on you profile, the site sends you an e-mail.

If I was to Google "Joe Smith" plus something about you ("fly fishing columnist" or "bowling champ" or "world-famous chef") you'd never know it.

  4. If you don't want to be found, never google your name from your home computer, but use the one at the library and try to delete your personal information or opt out of its being displayed.

Without a sophisticated search team, there really is no way to tell if some one is searching for you via internet.

Unless, perhaps, you set up a blog (or whatever) with phony info and word comes back to you about this info, you know, a sort of trap.
