Try the Findlay local government clerk of court. They maintain all legal records and will most definitely have a copy of the police reports. These records are public and if they refuse to give them to you, file under the Freedom of Information Act. to obtain them.

Find out the name of the main newspaper there (I found "the Courier") and check if they have archives ~ a lot of them are online, and 7 years is not that long ago in newspaper time.

Also, Google the names of the parties involved if you know them.

In addition to the ideas already advanced, I would look for a reporter's name who did the reporting while the case was hot.  Ask the police if there is a "cold case" file.  Better still, ask the State police if there is a cold case file on the victim.  If your interest is more than idle curiosity.

I found this link but it states there were no killings in Findlay in 2001 but you may be able to follow it up.It seems odd that there were no crimes between 1985 and 2001. ?
