  1. Find out how far away the exchange is, the closer you are the faster the broadband can be.

  2. The most important part here is that telephone lines can not handle broadband at all.

The connection is through the cable.

  3. try this site http://gadgetshow.five.tv/jsp/speed_test...

  4. iftou go with DSL unless you have ral old wiring a stanard phione line in a standard community now a days shouldseasily handle dsl if you are talking cable spped, that goes through you cable TV line and has nothingto do with you phone line

  5. You will need to call your local ISP provider to find out what is available in your area.  This may or may not be your local phone company.

  6. Just phone  BT and they will tell you after they run a check on the line

  7. If you have not yet installed the broadband, your ISP should be able to tell you what speed your post code can get. They can if they bother to check, so insist on that.

If you have installed it, there are many site that checks speed and if you happen to be using a router, the router connection display page will tell you your exact download speed. This should be very similar to what your next door neighbour would get over his phone line too. So, your neighbours might be a good source.

You can try this site to test your speed to:

    Hope this helps

  8. This site has a broadband tester which tells the downloading speed of the connection
