How can i find out when the electrical panel in my home was installed?

  1. You should go to the building dept.  There is a file on your house.  On your CO, Certificate of Occupancy, there will be dates of permits filed for your electrical panel, boiler, extentions, ect.  


  2. In most cases the electrician will leave a sticker on the inside of the door. If it is there with no date, you could call. If it is the "breaker" style -where you just flip a switch, you may be able to call or look on your city web site for inspection dates for your home. Usually if it has been less than 10 years, you can look up the date the city inspected the electrical work.  If it is a fuse, it is probably older than 10 years and you may have a hard time finding it.

  3. Give me a brand name and a breaker style and I can estimate.

    More often than not the panel gets changed with no permit.  So going to the building dept. won't do anything for you.
