How can i find out which hot water heater is mine ....i live in an apartment

If the water heater serves your apartment only, it's probably wired

to your electric panel.

It will be on a two pole breaker. Find your panel.

Turn your two pole breakers off and check for power at the heaters with a test lamp. The one unpowered will be yours.

**Careful!  In the basement you will be well grounded and vulnerable to shock.**

You didn't mention how many apartments, but you could check the heaters at an hour when nobody is using hot water, check the outlet water line to see if it is hot, if all on the cold side, turn on your hot water and see which line gets hot, that is yours.

Turn on a hot water faucet and go to the heaters and see which one is filling through the cold water supply line or the hot line is running.

Turn them up, one by one and listen for which one of your neighbors screams in the shower..

Look the unit over carefully for a number on the top or side most of the time a maint. tech will mark the unit somewhere but its usually not easy to spot. Also when no one is home much have someone inside turn the water off and on quickly do it at least ten times while you hold your hand on the cold water side to feel for water flow.Another way is having two mobile phones ,after you make and educated guess trying the above turn the hot on in the apt. if the h\w\h has a cut off valve\handle turn it off and ask the person on the other end if the water on the hot side is slowing down or stopped running, use care here as problems could arise from old cut\offs they will start dripping when tampered with. Don't forget to turn any thing back on you turn off or the poor maint.tech will have to come out usually at his dinner time to fix your goof up.
