  1. Best thing to do is ask around other boat owners in the area hope fully someone will know who it belongs too. x

  2. You could try leaving a note in the cockpit with your interest and a phone number, but if it needs a lot of work the owner may not visit regularly.

Other than that I would try the Small Ships register run by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) . See them here at http://www.mcga.gov.uk/c4mca/mcga-home.h...

write to them (e-mail/phone/write) and give them the name and description of the vessel in question. They may be able to winkle out the owners details for you.

    Best of luck Bigpathome.

  3. you need to go to the registration port

    eg  PZ  is penzance

          BM  brixham

        etc etc

  4. I don't think you can find out with just the name - there are often numerous boats with the same name.  Can you see any registration numbers?  Most likely someone in the area knows something about who owns it, so ask around.

  5. Who owns "a boats" tut tut

  6. Moored where?

If it a canal boat it should have a registration number, its name displayed and also a current British Waterways Licence shown on both sides of the boat.

BW can check its owner by the number.
