I have dates/times/airline and flight number but not the actual aircraft type. Is there a site that historically records such details?

  1. Sometimes it is printed on your ticket.  In the UK, airbus size x*x.

    Peace.

  2. If you bought your ticket on the web, it may be listed in your confirmation email.  Quite possibly using a 3-letter/number code.  For instance, 733 = a Boeing 737-300.  73G = a Boeing 737-700 with winglets.  CR7 = a CRJ-700.  Etc.

If you happened to write down the aircraft's registration number (painted in small letters on the aircraft itself) you can look it up in a number of places, including www.airliners.net or possibly www.airfleets.net.

If you know the name of the airline you flew on, airfleets.net will at least help you pare it down, by telling you what types of airplanes that airline has.  That may even solve the problem for you, if they have only one type, or if you remember, for instance, how many seats across, how many engines, how many aisles, or some clue like that.

Or, you could go online and search for tickets on the same flight you took, but on a day in the near future.  Generally if flight #123 was on an A320 last Wednesday, it will be on an A320 next Wednesday also.  But that's not the case 100% of the time.

Lastly, if it is worth $25 to know, you can buy a membership at airliners.net, which allows you to ask (unlimited) questions in the forum.  People don't often ask reg # type questions, but when they do, they often get an answer.

  3. Go to the airline's website and look up the flight like you're going to take it again. (saem day, time, destination)

When you look at the schedule it will tell you the type of aircraft you'll be flying on.
