How can i finish my ps1 game on my ps3?

okay so i was playing FFIX for ps1 on my ps2. but how can i finish playing the game on my ps3. basically i want to transfer the saved file over to my ps3. is this possible?

and i don't want to pay any money for attachments that tranfer you memory card over to the ps3.
