How can i fix dings and paint on my guitar?

my electric guitar fell out of the strap when i was playing it and landed face down on cement. now it has large dents with exposed wood. how can i fix this because my local guitar shop doesn't do repairs like this.

  1. if the dings are small enough that they dont affect the sound, you could just put a sticker on it to cover it up, thats what i did with a couple small scrapes on my acoustic

Oh, you can fix them alright, but you shouldn't.  You can fill the dents, sand them, and paint them, but eventually the vibrations (yes, even a solid body guitar vibrates) are going to knock the filling loose.  Check out Stevie Ray Vaughn's guitar sometime by doing a Yahoo search--those scrapes, dents, and nicks are history, man!  I've got a '73 Gibson SG that I bought brand new--every nick, stain, spilled drink, and blood speck has a story behind it.  Don't do it!
