I have a motorola cable modem that connects to a dell and a wireless A&G linksys router that should connect to my mac & my brother's pc. The dell works, and my brother's internet works, but not the mac. my mac says that its connected to the linksys, but the linksys isnt connected to the internet.

i think the wires might be wrong in the back. how should they be plugged in? & does anyone know why it isnt working??

  1. dump the mac and get a PC

    simple answer lol

you need to check compatibility with your router and macs..

  2. I am guessing that your dell and your brothers computer is connected by wire. The dell is connected by USB and your brothers in done by Ethernet though the linksys, and the linksys is connected by Ethernet to the cable modem, Right? If what i said is correct, then the problem is simple, you didn't configure DHCP on your router. First log into the router (open up Internet explorer and type in the router's IP address -should be hppt://192.168.1.1 -but might be different) and there should be a setup page. There should be a setting for local DHCP server, enable it, the router should reset itself. Also make shore the router is setup to obtain an IP address automatically. That should work for ya. Good luck!
