  1. What was the software you downloaded and what is the error code. Please type it in exactly as it is.

OK, uninstall w/l again and also whatever program you downloaded that then asked you for money.

    Install ccleaner http://ccleaner.com

Run the Cleaner scan and remove all it finds

Run the Registry scan and fix all issues but repeat this until nothing is detected.

    Run this daily anyway.

I'll assume you're on XP and have a valid copy. You need to make sure that you have installed all the relevant updates http://www.update.microsoft.com/windowsu...

Check in the custom updates as well as the critical ones as there may be more things in there that you need and also maybe a newer IE. I'd stay away from Beta versions unless you know what you're doing.

When you've done all this try reinstalling w/l from the official link http://get.live.com/ During the installation say no to sending details to microsoft and any add-ons unless you really want them.

Let me know if you have any more trouble but this should do the trick.

I've listed some recommendations below that you may or may not find useful.

I always recommend the following be stored on computers and install them myself on any I repair.

    Avast Home Edition http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.ht...

Run a full scan once a month. I find this the best free anti-virus software

    SUPERantispyware Free Edition  http://superantispyware.com

Update and run a full scan once a week.

    Spybot Search and Destroy http://safer-networking.org

Update, Immunize and scan once a week.

    ccleaner http://ccleaner.com

Run the Cleaner scan and remove all it finds

Run the Registry scan and fix all issues but repeat this until nothing is detected.

    Run this daily.

    Comodo Firewall http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/

Some people just prefer the Windows one but this is better.

Check that you don't need to defragment monthly and also run a Disk Cleanup monthly too.

A good program for removing programs that seem to refuse to go no matter what you do is http://www.revouninstaller.com/index.htm... however be careful how you use this.
