How can i get 2 miles under 16 minutes in 2 weeks

I get so exausted after one mile consistent running what can i do to get 2 miles of running in under 16 mins because soccer tryouts are in 2 weeks, but I have been practicing all summer for it. I even lost 15 pounds but my cardio sux.

  1. huh?   8 min mile pace is pretty easy... try running two times a day... run two miles in the morning, then one at night,.. or vice versa.     Each day ramp up the energy.  the second week, run 3 miles everyday... in one session.   Repetition is key.  


  2. By sprint racing. Go at your regular speed for 5 minutes or so, then go at top speed for 2-3 minutes. Increase the regular and top speeds every 3-4 days. The sprints really help improve your speed and muscle reaction.  

  3. Don't overexert yourself. I did and now I have bad knee problems. Set small goals and try to build up to them, even though you don't have that much time. First week try to get two miles in 18 minutes. Try maybe 3 or 4 times that week. Then next week set your goal at 16 minutes. Even if you don't get two miles in 16 minutes you'll be closer to your goal than when you started, and I bet you'll make soccer tryouts if you just try your best.

    I find when I set exact goals for time when I set out to run I come closer to my set goal than I would if I had just gone running without thinking about time. Also, stretching helps my running in big ways.

  4. you need to get your wind up so run in sweatpants and keep pushing yourself..then when you run in shorts it will be easyer.


  5. You should try to take a class at a gym, a spin class to improve your stamina.  

  6. try eating really good, lots of veggies, and practice makes perfect.  also get lots of rest.
