  1. get As on the test... do all the HW

  2. The obvious answer is to work hard! (Don't leave revision until the last minute; maybe 2 hours per night, with weekends off?)

The facetious answer is to just turn up for the exams! Just about everybody seems to get As or A*s these days, which leads me to believe that exams are indeed getting easier and standards are falling, which is plain when I have seen on a regular basis that people with so-called excellent grades often cannot string an intelligent sentence together, produce a piece of writing without grammatical or spelling errors, or complete simple mathematics without the aid of a calculator! When I sat my 'A' Levels, they were indeed much harder than 'O' Levels - It was rare for someone to achieve 'straight' As. The 'O' Levels were harder than GCSEs too - and no coursework to go  towards the final grade. The grades achieved actually MEANT something then!

'A' Levels are the Advanced Levels of the General Certificate of Education(GCE). 'O' Levels, or Ordinary Levels of the General Certificate of Education were detrimentally replaced by the GCSE -  General Certificate of Secondary Education.

PS. You have already proved my argument re incorrect punctuation. The pronoun 'I' should be written in upper case (capitals), not 'i', and you have omitted the apostrophe in 'I've' and a question mark after 'how many hours should I do?'. Also, you should avoid using the word 'got' with reference to your GCSE A* in Science. It would have been much better English  to have said that you achieved an A* in Science. (Notice the capital letter S!)

By the way,if you don't know what 'facetious' means, then you ought to obtain a good dictionary and look it up!

  3. Catherine, I couldn't agree more.

  4. The lecturers will supply you with all the information you need to pass with a grade A. Taking it all on board is up to you.

  5. the best way to achieve high grades is revision, revision, revision. It also helps if you enjoy the subject and understand what you are learning.
