I just bought an older boat that i want to bow fish out of, but i need a way to plug in a spotlight. I was wondering if there was maybe an adapter out there that would plug into my 3 prong nav light plug that would allow me to plug in a spotlight? If not, could it be rigged from an another nave light? I know very little about electronics or lights.

  1. Yeah it will work. The third prong is just for orientation. There are only two conductors in a DC(12V) system. One is hot, one is return(ground).  At your local marine store you can get a male 3 prong that will replace the end on your spotlight...or you can wire a cheap lighter receptacle as you mention off just about anything on your boat.

  2. Get one at auto zone.

  3. 3 prong as in 120v house plug?

You'd want something that runs off of 12v DC.

Does your boat have an alternator? if not, i really dont know hwo to help ya..
